Shikamaru Takeshita

Shikamaru Takeshita is a ceramic artist based in Mashiko. He works in two distinct styles of unglazed pottery: Nanban pottery and yakishime porcelain, the latter being a unique style found almost nowhere else. The unglazed yakishime porcelain undergoes a week-long firing in a wood-fired kiln, transforming its surface with a depth that echoes the beauty of weathered stone sculptures.
