Collection: Hiroyumi Suzuki

Hiroyumi Suzuki is a ceramic artist based in Iga, Mie Prefecture. He trained in South Korea under a master specializing in Joseon dynasty ceramics — a tradition that shaped much of Japanese pottery but is rarely studied at its source. Back in Japan, he moved to Shigaraki, then to Iga, where deep clay deposits from an ancient lake bed nurture a long ceramic history.

He built his studio and two wood-fired kilns from the ground up. His practice moves between tradition and innovation — kohiki, Mishima, celadon, yakishime — each held to the same standard. His self-built anagama can reach over 1,300 degrees and is fired three to five times a year. The work has drawn serious attention from chefs in Japan in recent years.
