Collection: Porcelain

Made from exceptionally pure clays fired at high heat, porcelain is ceramic at its most refined. The resulting porcelain ware is dense yet delicate, brilliantly white.

It is also the most demanding clay to work by hand. Porcelain is sensitive and unforgiving, quick to crack if dried unevenly, quick to collapse if a maker loses focus. It is much less plastic than clay used for stoneware. Throwing it on a wheel requires sustained, almost meditative attention. But this difficulty is exactly what gives hand-made porcelain its character.
